Dahab
Dahab, Egypt, located on the southeastern coast of the Sinai Peninsula, is one of the world's top destinations for divers. Dahab offers diving experiences for novice and veteran divers. The numerous dive agencies in the city make it a pleasant place to earn a certification or simply see underwater sights you'll find nowhere else. Besides diving, Dahab is also a destination for other sorts of adventure tours.
Dahab is located on the warm, peaceful waters of the Gulf of Aqaba, home to hundreds of species of coral, fish, and other marine life. The beautiful coral reefs in the Gulf can be explored at leisure, affording spectacular sights at every turn. Many of Dahab's diving sites are famous worldwide, including the natural tunnel called the Canyon, which is easy for even the rankest beginner to dive. On the other end of the scale is the extremely dangerous Blue Hole, which should only be attempted by experts. The Gulf also features many shipwrecks for divers to explore, some naturally caused, others deliberately scuttled to create habitats for marine life.
If the desert is more to your taste than the water, you can arrange for tours of the Sinai Desert. Some agencies offer camel-back treks through the desert. You can take a day trip, or spend several days travelling the desert, eating and sleeping under the stars and visiting astonishing geological formations that most tourists will never see. The rocky southern Sinai is also full of world-class rock-climbing sites, ranging from boulders to wadis (dried river beds) to small mountains, suitable for both learners and experienced climbers. Dahab is also an easy trip to Mount Sinai, which is worth visiting both for its history and its scenic beauty.
