The Major Attractions
The island of Mykonos itself is rich enough in history and beauty to be an attraction. Once on the island, however, there are a number of spots that travellers of all kinds must see. First, there is "Little Venice." Located on the westernmost part of the island, this area touts buildings of the most immaculate architecture and beauty. Many of these houses are built as close to the coast as physically possible, with balconies hanging over the water.
Next, there is the eloquent Paraportiani, or the church. The church, which is actually five churches molded togther, was erected over a period spanning about a hundred and fifty years, starting in 1475. This building exemplifies the beauty of Greek architecture, with the white and blue colors complementing the clouds and sky above.
The Ideal Occasion
Like many other Greek islands, Mykonos turns into a serious party at night, making it an ideal destination for young vacationers, honeymooners, and families alike. Families, parents in particular, need not be dettered by the party atmosphere because the Greek people are honed in the art of accomodating young ones when it is time for the adults to play. That being understood, Mykonos is the ultimate island vacation for anyone who appreciates beautiful scenery, history, and fun. If the camera goes off accidentally, don't worry. All of the pictures will be postcard worthy anyway.
