Located 43 miles from the hustle and bustle of Kos Town, Kefalos is a bit more appropriate for visitors and seeking a quiet beach retreat on the lovely Greek island of Kos on the Agean Sea. The area is favored by British tourists so you'll find that a lot of the hotels and restaurants reflect that within their amenities and menus.
Hotels
Many of the hotels in the Kefalos area are family-owned, low-key and close to the beach. Many serve a full English breakfast and offer swimming pools. On-site restaurants serve some Greek specialties but mostly European food. Apartments suitable for families and long-term visitors are readily available.
Exploring the Island
Explore the Agean Sea on a glass-bottom boat or on a fishing charter. Nearby Therma Springs has a hot sulfuric spring that is rumored to cure a variety of physical ailments. One tour company offers the "Greek Night" which begins in a small mountain village with great views of the island and concludes with a traditional Greek dinner with live dance performers. Many cruise tours of nearby islands are offered in Kefalos.
Fun with Kids
Two water parks in the area provide fun in the sun. One offers a series of inflatable structures right on the beach. Another in nearby Lido provides a more traditional water park experience with water slides, wave pools and lazy rivers. Lounging beaches in Kefalos rent water sport equipment and sun loungers for visitors. Some secluded beaches offer quad rental for beach driving fun. The top-notch beaches at Kefalos offer white sands and views of turquoise waters that go on forever.
