Santa Ponsa Travel Guide

Majorca, the largest Balearic Island, sits off the southeast coast of Spain. This has been a popular destination for sun seekers since the 1960’s. Sunny rain-free days and mild temperatures draw thousands of tourists every year.

Beaches and Watersports
Santa Ponsa is known for its sandy beaches so it is busiest during the summer months. Platja de Santa Ponsa is a picturesque beach in the bay. Pedaloes, water bikes, fishing and snorkeling can be found in Santa Ponsa. Because Santa Ponsa is protected by the mountains it is often sunny when the rest of the island is cloudy, making it perfect for watersports.

Outdoor Activities
Take a scenic coastal walk or a more challenging trek along the beach. Or drive down to the coast to the many Majorca sights that are within an hour’s drive. Golfers can choose from three courses. Book a court at the Tennis Club to get a game of tennis in. They are simply named Santa Ponsa I, II and III.

Shopping
Along the seaside you’ll find shops. Also, a daily market featuring crafts and street performers in Santa Ponsa is open from ten in the morning until two in the afternoon. In nearby Palma de Mallorca you can shop at the Rastro flea market.

Festival
The highlight of the September festival is a mock battle waged between Christians and Moors to commemorate the arrival of Jaume I of Aragon and Catalunya when he landed in Santa Ponsa to drive out the Moors in 1229.

Nightlife
Dine at a seaside restaurant or outdoor café. For lively late night entertainment, the town centre has several bars and discos, including some Irish pubs.
