Santo Tomas is a resort development on the central southern coast of the island of Menorca. There are only a few dozen local residents. But during the summer months the town is bursting with tourists, mostly British. Playgrounds in the town centre and the hotel pools make this a good place for family holidays.
Beaches and Walks
Spending time at the beach is the major activity in Santo Tomas. Sandy beaches with lots of amenities make it a place for beach lovers. Stroll the promenade that extends along the length of town behind the beach. For a more strenuous walk, trek to the nearby resort of Son Bou. Along this path are the nudist beaches.
Migjorn Gran
The actual town of Migjorn Gran is largely undeveloped in order to protect the environment. The Plaza de la Iglesia and its church, Sant Cristofol are the center of the town. There is a colorful market held here on Wednesday all year. During the annual Festival of Sant Cristofol the priest blesses the cars of the locals.
Es Mercadal
The nearby town of Es Mercadal is found at the foot of Mount Toro and is the spiritual centre of the island. The Sanctuary of Mare de Deu del Toro is not only famed as a spiritual retreat but also known for its spectacular views. The annual festival of Sant Marti includes a parade that features the celebrated rearing horses of Menorca.
Nightlife
Nightlife is centered on entertainment in the hotels. In July and August, enjoy poolside entertainment at the Hotel Victoria Playa.
