Marbella

Marbella, an Andalusian port, along the coast of Spain, is known from its famous visitors. From the Rothschilds to Saudi princes, the rich and famous come here for their holidays. The white washed house, cobblestone streets and flower-filled window boxes make this a charming seaside destination.

Beaches
The two most popular beaches in town are the El Fuerte and La Fontanilla. Off of the promenade are the gold sanded beaches. Cafes and bars offer up refreshments and kiosks rent umbrellas and beach lounging chairs along with rentals for water sports. Some still have the old elephant fountains spewing water from their trunks. These beaches are crowded but close to town center.

Walks
Wander the narrow streets of the Old Town. Stop at the Patio de los Naranjos (Court of the Orange Trees) to enjoy the fountains while you have refreshments from a chair at an outdoor cafe. People watching is the top sport here.

Events
Summer is crowded but also is the season with events like the San Bernabé Festival with locals dancing in traditional dress and music in the plazas. Another summer event is the Marbella International Arts Festival when dozens of arts line the streets. The winter carnival celebrations before Lent include costume contests, chorizo tastings, and “the burial of the sardine”.

Nightlife
Marbella boasts glamourous discos and chic night clubs. If you like a game of chance there are a couple of casinos in town. Enjoys tapas at wine bars and be mesmerized by the dancers at a local flamenco club. Nighttime shows don’t start until almost midnight and go on almost until dawn.
